slanted spaces

In our quest to find a house,
we've looked at tons of cute little
capes with slanted upstairs spaces.

While the diagonal lines are cool,
they typically make it kinda tricky
to use the space well.

As usual, pinterest to the rescue.
In the last few days, I've seen lots of
cool uses of slanted spaces.

Currently, my favorites are the closets;
 such practical and helpful solutions.

This bright cheery bathroom is pretty
cool too, though.  I like the idea of turning
wasted space into something so nice.

 Any brilliant solutions to share?
Who knows what kind of a house
we'll end up with, but I'm always
open to suggestions!

oversized

I'm loving this big, bold letter -
so funky and unexpected!

Perhaps some day when we find
the perfect little house for us, I'll just
have to search out a giant L...

ooolala...laundry!

There's something very appealing
about a pretty laundry spot...

...and all of these have me dreaming
about what I want to do someday when
we have a spot of our own!

Which one's your favorite?

frivolous

Pinterest allows me to dream up
the most ridiculous amazing parties.

For instance, this over-the-top
ladies night with plenty of pretty.

It makes me want to go home
to find a party dress immediately!

pinterest inspiration

Anyone else love playing around with Pinterest?
There are so many good ideas, pretty pictures,
and yummy recipes - it's a little addicting.

I noticed a common theme today on one of
my boards...fun wrapping ideas!  Which if you
have ever seen my giant bin of wrapping
paper & ribbons, isn't really all that shocking.  :)

How lovely are all these little beauties in
brown paper?  The top one is just a strip of
glue with confetti - which I think is genius!
I also love this one with the balloons -
so cute and cheerful!

Are you on Pinterest?
What fun things are you finding?

his & hers

I'm loving these "His & Hers" diptychs.

Makes me want to carry our little
Polaroid clunker around everywhere
and be more creative!

hot cocoa...on a stick

This is genius.  To be fair, I'm a crazed hot
chocolate fan, but this is cool even if
you aren't.  In the words of Marta:

It comes (adorably packaged) in the form
of a  whopping chunk of rich chocolate–
on a clever stick, mind you–
ready to dunk into steaming hot milk,
then stirred into cocoa oblivion.
oh my goodness, it's divine.
dark and dreamy and full flavored.

Um, yes please. Well done,

a sweet arrangement

How's this for an adorable - and yes,
sweet, centerpiece?  (I know, it's
a terrible pun...I can't help it.)

good advice

What a good reminder.  I don't know about
you, but I find it easy to get nit-picky
about so many little things that really
don't matter matter. At the end of the
day, I'm always happier when I practice
letting the little things go.

And yet, it's easier said than done.
For me, remembering how gracious God
is with me sure goes a long way to
helping keep my focus where it should be.
What helps you?

hand me an apron!

Something about this chilly, festive time of year
makes me want to take over a large,
wonderful kitchen  (only because ours is
tiny & not quite as beautiful as this!)
so I can cook / bake up a storm.

Plus I keep finding daily inspiration
( recipes that make you drool just
imaging how good they must taste!)
from lovely people like these:

everyday beauty

I love this picture - it's such a good example of the kind of everyday moments that catch my eye and make me so grateful for the small instances of beauty that surround us.

Yes, I know it's a dirty train floor and just a pair of yellow shoes, but isn't it lovely? And doesn't it inspire you to be watching out for those little moments?

Happy today, friends!

some pretty for your day...

I have been smitten with these gorgeous interior photos ever since Desire to Inspire featured them a few months ago.

They are a tiny slice of the work of Helen Norman, a very talented photographer who shoots a variety of subject matter.

And yes, not going to lie, these blue cabinets really threw me for a loop the first time I looked through her portfolio.

Now I love them.

(Sorry, Mom. I can hear you in my head saying how dated they will look in just a few years, but right now I think they are really pretty.)

Check out the rest of her portfolio - there are hundreds more beautiful images.

And lots of inspiration - both for the photographers and designers among us.
