powerful promises

On days when I'm feeling tired,
burdened or overwhelmed, I return
to God's promises...and this one
is one of my favorites.

I love being reminded that God
is with me - I'm not alone.

I'm grateful that God is mighty to
save - I don't have to save myself.

I'm blown away that God takes delight
in me - even when I feel crummy.

I cling to the promise that when my
heart & mind are noisy - He will
calm my distress with His love.

And finally, how incredible that the
God of the universe sings over my life
with joy and triumph - because I'm His.

hey, maine.

We're celebrating the long weekend
with a trip to Maine, which will be
 a nice little get-away.

We're planning to spend lots of time
relaxing with my folks and are
contemplating an inaugural trip to
the coast as a little welcome to
summer.  I'm excited!

What are your plans?
I hope you enjoy the weekend!

party planning committee

My best friend is getting hitched in August,
so a lot of my free time lately has been spent
planning a summery bridal shower!

I've been working with her sweet family
to plan a perfect celebration for our favorite
girl, and am having way too much fun
coming up with cute ideas and
making crafty things.

But mostly, I'm just loving being
part of our own little PPC.  ;)

talent

I recently noticed this on Pinterest,
and after mulling it over a bit, decided
that it was a neat interpretation of
these verses from Romans 12:

We have different gifts, according to
the grace given to each of us.
If your gift is prophesying, then
prophesy in accordance with your faith.
If it is serving, then serve;
if it is teaching, then teach;
if it is to encourage, then give encouragement;
if it is giving, then give generously;
if it is to lead, do it diligently;
if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Do you ever think about what
God has gifted you with, and how
you can be using it for Him?

Because it's Monday, and I think
everyone can use an extra dose of
adorable to jump-start the week,
here's some goldendoodle cuteness
 for your day.  Happy Monday!

time for a weekend

It's been a bit of a marathon around here
lately, so I'm looking forward to some
much deserved rest this weekend.

And because the sun is supposed to
be shining all weekend long, I'm planning
to be outside soaking it up!

Happy weekend, my friends.

tis the season...

It's skirt season again, and I'm enjoying
how it gives me a chance to look at
my wardrobe with fresh eyes.

And while it goes nearly without saying,
I'm loving that all of my favorite shoes
have also come out to play!  :)

love has name...

I saw this print on pinterest yesterday,
and immediately thought of a song that
I've been listening to a lot lately...

What do you think?
I just can't get over these lines:

I will never be the same,
love has called my name...

love has a voice,
love has a name,
Jesus, Jesus...

addicted

It's official: homemade popcorn is the
new go-to snack in our house.  We
can't seem to get enough, and are
loving having something yummy to
munch on in the evenings.

The only downside?  I am finding
salt in lots of unexpected places
all over the living room!  :)

weekend to remember

We spent last weekend up in Portland, Maine -
and the only pictures we have to show from
a great time away are these silly photos
we took in a cute kitchen store.

As dorky as it sounds, our new favorite
game is to walk into any sort of specialty
store and find the least practical, most goofy
piece of merchandise in the place.
Pretty awesome, right?

(Yes, that is a moose pot holder)

We were actually in town for an event
called Weekend to Remember - a marriage
conference that came highly recommended to us
by many couples we love and admire.

It was great.  The speakers were top notch,
and they covered practical topics like fighting fair,
communication, and sex.  Everything was super
organized, and we even had homework projects
to do together.  (and a scheduled date night!)

We both came away reminded that a great
marriage takes intentional work, and grateful
for a chance to do that work together!
