going to the chapel.

Things are getting exciting around 

these parts!  Today is my last day of work,

my parents arrive in town this afternoon, 

and I had a great trial run of my make up

this morning. It's like we're really about 

to get married or something! 

Since I'll be busy and not near a 

computer until after the big day, this 

will be my last blog post until we return 

from our warm and sunny honeymoon. (!!!!)  

Thank you for being willing to share

in all my excitement by following along 

with our story over these past months.  

I've enjoyed this process tremendously, 

and look forward to showing off

fun pictures when we return!

a tuesday list.

 A little happy list for this Tuesday!

 Mostly because my brain can't seem

to focus on anything for very long,

but don't tell anyone...

 

1.  We're officially into hours now.

This morning I figured out that we were

almost precisely 100 hours away 

from the wedding.  How fun is that!?

2.  I need to stop going to Target.

Yesterday I stopped in to pick up a few

little things, and walked away with a 

cute bathing suit & dress.  Ooops.

(I keep justifying that it's for the 

honeymoon, but still...yikes!)

3. I have incredible friends.

Yesterday this blog post popped into

my inbox.  (And made me cry....in a 

good way.)  I love this wonderful

girl so dearly, and am proud to 

call her my friend!

 

4.  Hey look...my wedding shoes!

I was browsing blogs today and stumbled 

on my wedding shoes.  Mine are a different 

color, but it still made my day!

5.  My sister is awesome.

Not only has she done our photos 

and invites (plus host a cool bridal shower 

for me), now she's helping me finish 

lots of last minute design & 

printing.  Amazing!

6.  This skirt wants to be in my closet.

Oh Etsy, you are such a trouble maker...

 A few days ago, I finally realized that

immediately following our wedding,

we get to leave for vacation.  

Now, I'm not an idiot...I obviously

realized this before, but it has finally

hit me that we have a really fabulous

vacation coming really soon.

And today, it's a very 

happy distraction.

 This spot it looking particularly enticing 

to me today.  Sometimes I think Fridays

were meant for naps in the sunshine!

what i like about you

 Periodically throughout the wedding planning 

process, I try to step back and stop focusing 

on the logistics and million little details that 

easily take over my brain. Doing this helps me 

continue to find joy, be grateful, and focus

on how excited I am to just get married!  

 

This morning I spent a few minutes 

looking through fun photos of things 

we've done together, which led me to 

compose this list of some favorite 

things about my handsome guy:

1.  He takes a mean self portrait.

I occasionally scroll through my camera 

and find entire self portrait sessions that 

I had no idea he had taken.  It never 

ceases to make me smile! 

2.  Pit stops.

I love how when we're together, he 

encourages us to take little detours 

and just enjoy the day and each other.  

I'm looking forward to many 

more happy adventures!

3.  We look pretty darn good together.

4.  His many bromances.

I love his goofy and completely disarming 

approach to friendships, and how 

often I get to see God working through

lots of silliness and laughing.

5.  He loves me so practically.

I'm consistently blown away by how

he selflessly loves on me. He's goes out

of his way to do sweet things for me and 

makes dinner or folds laundry when 

I'm exhausted.  I'm so blessed!

thoughts on counting down.

 Just in case you're not so good with

counting, that's 10 fingers I'm 

holding up...which means we only

have 10 more days until the wedding!

People keep asking me how I'm 

doing, and I'm weirdly calm most of 

the time.  I don't think I've wrapped my 

brain around just how close we 

are, although periodically it hits me that 

we're in the final countdown and I 

(a) get so excited I can hardly function, 

or (b) start to freak out because

there's so much left to do.

Philippians 4:4-7 has been holding

me together whenever I start to worry:  

 "Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will 

say it again: rejoice!  Let your gentleness 

be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  

Do not be anxious in anything, but in 

every situation, by prayer and petition,

with thanksgiving, present your

requests to God.  And the peace of

God, which transcends all understanding,

will guard your heart and your minds

in Christ Jesus."

And in the wise words of my handsome

guy:  "No matter what happens on the 

wedding day - good or bad - it will be

a great day, because at the end, 

we'll be married."  And really...how 

can a girl argue with that?  :)

sunshine = hope

 It's been delightfully sunny & warm 

for the last couple of days, and 

while it's not quite green here yet, 

I have such hope for spring!  

 

Yesterday the handsome man 

& I stole a few minutes to lay 

in the sun, and it reminded me all 

over again why I'm such a summer

girl. Life is just happier with

some sunshine!

aka: two weeks, one day.

 I love this - because it's so

true.  There's just no place quite

like the ocean.  I always feel 

wonderfully tiny beside the sea,

and love thinking about how a Creator

that big could love & care about

little old me!  And when I can

ponder those sorts of things, life never

seems quite so daunting!

Ever have one of those days where

all you can think about is the yummy food

you wish you were going home to make 

for dinner / dessert?  When my evenings are 

busy and I'm running directly from work

to a meeting or event, I find myself compulsively

daydreaming about recipes and free evenings

spent in a kitchen.  But never cleaning up...

that's the luxury of a daydream!

today to talk about wedding stuff, and

I can hardly believe how close we're getting.

Just 19 more days, eeek!!

hello, april.

 As of today, we officially take possession 

of our super cute new place - and 

starting tomorrow, we get to start moving 

the big stuff in and setting it up as our

own.  I'm beyond excited!  

 

I think April and I are going to be good

friends, despite the cold and snowy start...
