weekend getaway

Tonight we're heading north
for a weekend with my family.

I'm looking forward to spoiling my
Momma on her birthday, catching up
with sister, and lots of Daddy hugs.

Happy weekend!

Papa Bear

My wonderful & handsome Daddy
is having some surgery today, so we're
praying for skilled hands, a good outcome
and a speedy recovery.  (And plenty of
peace for my Momma...because no one
likes to see their hubby be miserable!)

warm & fuzzy

Have you seen this sweet post?  These two
kiddos enthusiastically send their Dad off
every morning with lots of kisses and hugs
- and it's adorable.  (Watch the video
to totally melt your heart.)

Did you ever do happy things like this?
I vividly remember standing on my tiptoes
(on the heater!) so that I could see out
the window in the living room and wave
goodbye to my Daddy every morning.

I felt so loved knowing that he cherished
our crazy antics in the front window,
and got so excited when he would honk
the truck horn and wave back at us.   It was
a happy tradition in our house for years,
and even now I still wave and blow kisses
to my family when they drive away after
a visit.  Old habits die hard.  :)

wanna go for a walk?

 We're dog-sitting this week, so I'm spending
lots of time outside with the pooch these days.
Miss M (a cute beagle mystery mix) seems to enjoy
sniffing her way through our long morning walks,
and I've been loving the crisp fall air and time
to call up my Daddy for long silly chats!

this makes me giggle

I love these goofy faces that daddy
makes for the camera.
They always make me giggle.

And while we're at it,
let's just notice please how
stinkin cute my momma is...

red & shiny.

I spent about four hours yesterday in my very practical, cute little SUV, and at about hour three I started thinking how much more fun it would be to do all that driving if I had something fast and shiny to drive.

(Yes, I understand that it would severely limit my ability to do my job, since I could fit pretty much no art in a fun car, but since we're being all theoretical here, please don't bring it up, ok? Thanks.)

I blame you, Daddy, for teaching your girls to love fast cars. You've ruined us for life :)

windblown

I think that riding on the tailgate of a pickup truck might be one of my favorite things in the world. As a kid on the farm, we often got to ride between the various buildings in the back of the truck - always to my delight.

The wind rushing all around you is so intoxicating, and the sense of security from knowing that Daddy is at the wheel and you are safe with him was pure bliss to this little girl
.

(Although I never was dressed like this in all my farm-girl-riding-in-trucks years...)
