Spirit lead me...

Have you guys heard this song yet?

Ever since I heard part of it at church,
I've been enjoying listening to it and
really meditating on these words:

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders.
Let me walk upon the waters,
wherever you would call me.

Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander.
And my faith will be made stronger
in the presence of my Savior.

How different could our lives look if we
really prayed this?  Exciting...and maybe
a little out of our comfort zones?

trust

I'm struggling to have
joy & peace right now.

But thankfully, I don't have
to come up with them on my own.

So today, I choose to trust.
Despite how I feel, I choose trust.

And I'm going to cling to this promise,
and believe that hope will follow.

reminder

 Who is wise and understanding
among you?  Let them show it by their
good life, by deeds done in the humility
that comes from wisdom...

...wisdom that comes from heaven
is first of all pure; then peace-loving,
considerate, submissive, full of
mercy and good fruit, impartial
and sincere.  (James 3:13, 17)

It's been a weirdly nutty day today,
and it's been a struggle to keep
hanging on to these verses.  I was
reading them this morning, but some
days just seem to require a second
(or third) look to keep on track.

How do you manage these
sorts of days?

strengthened

Ever notice how sneaky the enemy is when
it comes to stealing our joy and peace?

Over the last few days I've been slowly getting
more and more overwhelmed with work and
the busyness of life.  It happens gradually...with
just a few things here and there until suddenly
it all adds up to complete stress and panic.

This morning as I sat on the couch in tears,
my amazing hubs encouraged me to spend some
time clinging to God's promises - which was
precisely what I needed to hear.  And when
I flipped open to Isaiah 40 and 41, I found
precisely what I needed to read.

It's refreshing to hand over my worries
to the Creator, and so energizing to put my hope
in his power.  When I do, I realize just how
inadequate my power is, and how much
better life is when I'm letting the Spirit lead.

If you're running low on your own strength,
or trying to do things without the peace
and joy of the Spirit, take a few minutes
to read these incredible promises.
It's sure made the difference in my day.

deep breath...

A confession:  When I get too
much on my plate and start feeling
overwhelmed, I just want to run away.
I know I should roll up my sleeves and
just do my best, but sometimes it's very
tempting to believe that I'll never get it
all done perfectly and just check out.

Today I'd much rather go find a spot like
this than deal with the mountain of stressful
projects on my desk, but instead I'm
going to take a deep breath, say a little
prayer, and try to be more like the woman
described in Proverbs 31:25...

She is clothed in strength and dignity,
and she laughs without fear of the future.

a reminder

 I love this promise.

a reminder.

“Come to me, all you who are weary
and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.

For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
(Matthew 11:28-30)

truth

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
(Proverbs 3:5-6)

i like this.

Oh Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for in perfect faithfulness
you have done marvelous things,
things planned long ago.
(Isaiah 25:1)

more peace.

This post really resonated with me.

Peace is something I'm really clinging to these days, and I love that she uses the words wild and fierce to describe peace. Sometimes it's easy to think of peace as an escape or an easy way out, but I don't think so.

In my opinion, choosing peace is sometimes the most difficult choice you can make....thoughts?

peace

You will keep in perfect peace
him whose mind is steadfast,
because he trusts in you.

Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock Eternal.

Yes Lord, walking in the way of your laws,
we wait for you;
your name and renown
are the desire of our hearts.

My soul yearns for you in the night;
in the morning my spirit longs for you.

Lord, you establish peace for us;
all that we have accomplished you have done for us.

(Isaiah 26:3-4,8-9,12)

good to remember.

That the God who created the universe knows and cares about the plans for my future is just incredible to me, and never ceases to comfort and inspire me...

Promises

"You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal."
(Isaiah 26:3-4)

"In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength."
(Isaiah 30:15)

Today I'm clinging to these promises, believing that if I put my trust in Jesus, He'll give me all the peace and strength I need. Sounds simple, right?
