true beauty

I know some women
like this, and have always
admired how attractive they
are as they brightly reflect the
Father.  But I've never been able
to articulate it quite this well.

Thoughts?
 Feeling challenged?
(I sure am.)

everyday beauty

In the spirit of cherishing all of
the little things, I am loving this pretty
picture of organized kitchen utensils.

Shortly after discovering the wonder
of Etsy, I bought a beautiful pottery utensil
jar - and while mine isn't nearly as organized
as this one - it still makes me smile every
time I grab a spatula or wooden spoon.

It really is the little things.  :)

becoming beautiful.

Loving this translation of these verses.
Happy Sunday, my friends.

memory

i wish there could have been
an invention that bottled
up a memory,
like perfume,
and it never faded,
never got stale.
then whenever i wanted to
i could uncork the bottle
and live the memory all over again.

glam

Like everyone else, I'm dying over
the oh-so-glamorous BHLDN.

Everything has such lovely details -
from the gowns to the shoes - it's all
gorgeous!  If I had a few extra
dollars in my pocket, I'd certainly be
doing a little bit of shopping!

swooning

I think my heart skipped a beat when
I saw this Etsy listing.  Ok, I know that's
super dramatic and silly, but come on.
This skirt is amazingly beautiful, but let's
talk about how gorgeous this listing photo is.
The colors, the light, the composition...it's
all just so lovely, and kind of makes me
want to spend money I don't have on
this skirt which I would never wear.
Isn't being a girl great? :)

upside down

This morning as I walked into the
office through a dense cloud of fog, it was
like the sun was shining up at me from
the sidewalk under my feet.

The carpet of yellow maples leaves
made my walk beautiful and was
a very cheerful way to start an
otherwise slightly gray day!

i like this

she clung to his dark leather jacket as he leaned against the subway pole.
one finger nestled into the deep v of his zipper.

she didn't know the A train then.
didn't know where it would go or end up.
only that he knew.
that he would lead.
and she would continue to cling.

Isn't this lovely and poetic?
I love the sense of mystery & trust...

everyday beauty

I love this picture - it's such a good example of the kind of everyday moments that catch my eye and make me so grateful for the small instances of beauty that surround us.

Yes, I know it's a dirty train floor and just a pair of yellow shoes, but isn't it lovely? And doesn't it inspire you to be watching out for those little moments?

Happy today, friends!

welcome, friday.

This picture makes my heart happy - especially on a grey morning like this one. The colors are so luscious, and I think the perspective, atmosphere, and lovely bokeh action make for a really wonderful image. (Am I weird for loving a random picture so much, or are there others out there like me?)

It's been a busy couple of weeks around these parts, and I'm very much looking forward to a mellow Saturday...once I conquer Friday. (Lots to do at work, plus an opening tonight which makes for a pretty long day.)

Hope your day is happy, lovelies!

Just a little something pretty for this dreary Wednesday morning!

(I'm not much on roses, but how sweet are these darlings?!)

lovely

I stumbled on these gorgeous images by Sanda Suy and just can't get enough of them. They are so elegant and glam, and just exquisitely drawn.

(And affordable too - check out her shop!)

girlie

Ladies ~ sometimes don't you revel in frivolous, pretty things just because they are girlie and lovely?

These pretty pink things make me feel so cheerful on this Friday afternoon!

more snow...

Despite being totally sick of the snow and cold, I feel obliged to admit how gorgeous it is, and thank God for surrounding us with so much beauty.

This morning, as my car slipped all over the roads on the way to the gym, I couldn't get over how amazing it is to see every branch and surface covered with the most delicate, powdery snow. It's like the whole world just gets a fresh outlook.

Hope your Wednesday is happy!

Leisure

by W. H. Davies

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylights,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait til her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

perspective

Recently, I spent a typical 10 minute drive across the city taking photos of the places I drive by all the time. (Safety disclaimer - Twin was driving so this was completely safe!)

That night, I was struck by how beautiful and different everything looked in the muggy, heavy darkness. The scenes I see everyday looked completely foreign when captured in a camera and viewed as separate little vignettes, rather than one coherent view.

While not claiming that any of these photos are great (or even really all that good) I want to share these are a way of challenging you to look for the beauty all around you. There are beautiful, lovely things all around us, but sometimes we miss them because they're part of the daily routine.

So look around - be deliberate about seeking out the beauty around you. And you might be surprised at what you find.
