sunday afternoon

Ever since the weather has started feeling cool

and crisp, I've been craving a good cup of

hot cocoa.  Yesterday the hubs taught me how

to make it from scratch on the stove, then

we happily enjoyed sitting outside in the sun

sipping away.  Hurray for Sunday afternoons!

In other lazy Sunday afternoon news, we have 

discovered this show...and are wasting hours

snuggled up on the couch being weirded 

out / fascinated by the wacky plot lines.

Anyone else out there watching it too?

In my humble (and kind of dorky) opinion,

this is the best office skit ever.

So maybe you don't agree,

but I happen to think that reruns

of The Office are the best 

thing ever to happen to tv.

Last night we were watching

the episode where Ed Truck dies

and Michael tries to make everyone 

do group grief counseling,and 

this quote is still making me giggle today:

"A few years ago, my family was on a

safari in Africa and my cousin, Mufasa,

was um, he was trampled to death by a pack

of wildebeasts and um, we all took it

really hard.  All of us in the audience,

of what happened."

hehe.

ps.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit
that last night I might have
watched an entire episode of
The Bachelorette.

I feel dumber for watching it.

But I might be curious about
what happens next week.

What ridiculousness.

weekend

Lots of relaxing this weekend, folks. And it's been wonderful.

I slept nice and late yesterday, then Twin and I made the most delish french toast and watched 500 Days of Summer.



Holy cute, amazing movie. I loved the characters, adored the music, and laughed my way through the entire thing.

(Can I please be Zooey Deschanel? Or at least have her wardrobe?)



Then we got to hang out with a few of our favorite girlies - because what could be better than girl time on a rainy weekend evening?

We ate lots more yummy food (including this cheesy wonder) and watched Bride & Prejudice.

And no, that's not a typo. If you haven't seen it, it's a Bollywood style Pride & Prejudice story, full of dancing and Indian culture and incredible cheesiness.

Watch it and giggle - you won't be sorry.



Then, because we hadn't had our fill of tv yet, Twin and I finished Season 4 of Criminal Minds this afternoon.

(Yes, I know...it's another cop show. But you know what, we really like them!)

just a tv junkie...

Thanks to so many days of snow (and twin being on vacation!) we are officially obsessed with another fun tv show.

And yes, I know it's official because we watched the entire first season in less than a week.

Don't judge me, ok?



The Mentalist is another cop show (shocking, I know) but with a cool twist - and a really great cast. I like how there are some serious undertones but the mood of the show is consistently light and playful.

Thanks, Mom & Dad for getting us hooked. You haven't steered us wrong yet!

a happy addiction

Hello, my name is Amanda and I am an addict...to this television show.

On the whole, Twin and I don't really watch a ton of tv - we have many other things that keep us busy, and we only have basic cable so that we could get our internet at a cheaper price. (I'm still trying to figure out how that one makes any sense at all...)

However, we do follow a few shows religiously, albeit in a slightly strange way. Thanks to our two-year stint without tv in the apartment, we started the habit of buying entire seasons of shows on dvd. While this means we're always a season behind everyone else watching it the normal way, it also means that we can devour an entire season in a very short amount of time.

And thus enters the addiction.



We just finished watching Season Four (and no I won't tell you how quickly we powered through 22 episodes because quite frankly, it's a little embarrassing) which was great until the very end of the season...when they left us stunned with a pretty serious cliff hanger.

See these characters? They're the reason the show is so darn good. Yes, the plots of each episode are great, and yes, I think they do a good job with sets and costumes and all of that, but it's the character development that has me hooked.

Now for you people who are too good for tv addictions, or for those of you who haven't ever had to tell yourself that a character is indeed fictional, you should probably just stop reading before you completely judge me.

For anyone left reading (welcome to the loony bin) I have to tell you that I was so distressed about how they left us hanging that I actually dreamed about these characters after watching the season finale.


Yep, I am that lame. Maybe even a little pathetic.

(Alright, it's a lot pathetic...let's not rub it in.)

But that's okay, I recognize my addiction, and that's a healthy step, right?



So for anyone still reading and wondering why, here's a summary & some take away points from this long and rambling post:
1 - I love this show, and am perhaps a little too interested in completely fictional characters.
2 - If you do watch the show (in the normal, weekly way), please don't tell me anything about Season Five...because I'm pretty sure the anticipation of waiting an entire year is good for my addiction.
3 - And finally, if you don't watch this show and you like crime fighting duos with a great sense of humor, then you should probably join me in this addiction...I'll even lend you the dvds.
